Sawing - a
matter of separation
The saws belong in the field of manufacturing
technology. The upper category can also be referred to as a “cutting process”,
in this case cutting using as a process of making chips. As a rule, the
rotating sawing tool removes material from the stationary workpiece. The
movement (feed) is carried out either by the workpiece or by the sawing tool.
Usually this is done until complete separation. In the case of band or wire
saws, however, the cutting course of the sawing can also follow a contour.
Furthermore, incomplete separations, that is to say incisions, are also
conceivable.
The concept of the saw not only includes machine
tools but also the motor-driven hand saws with multifunctionality for wood,
steel and stone, known from everyday life and craft. The hand-held circular saw
or the jigsaw are universal machines in which the material to be sawed is only
determined by the choice of tool.
Now we come to the structure and the most important
components of a saw (the machine tool is meant here). First of all, the frame
should be mentioned here. This carries all important components such as
spindle, drives, clamping devices, slide, tools, table and the weight of the workpieces.
When it comes to automation, a lot is also possible
with the saws. This development continues step by step from the simple circular
saw with manual feed to the automated control of the axes and spindles (CNC
control) and the automatic saws. In the end, the simple saw can become a sawing
center.
