Offset printing machines
- often in use

Offset printing is one of
the indirect flat printing processes. Offset printing is the most common
printing technique. It is used in advertising, newspaper, book and packaging
printing. As a result, the printing medium and printing plate are not touching,
the wear on the printing plates can be reduced. A distinction is made between
two types of offset printing machines, sheet-fed offset machines and web offset
printing machines.
What do the two types of
offset presses offer?
Sheetfed offset offers a
very high print quality. From business cards to high-quality advertising
brochures, printing can be done to a high degree of perfection. Sheetfed offset
can process certain formats. From A4 to large format. Nowadays, outputs of up
to 20,000 printed sheets per hour are achieved.
Advantages of sheet-fed
offset:
- Print sheets can vary in
format
- Space-saving machines
- Very high quality
printing
Disadvantages of sheet-fed
offset:
- Long set-up times
- Printing on both sides is
time-consuming as the sheet is fed through the press twice
In web offset printing
presses, a distinction is made between heatset and coldset processes. Heatset
is used, for example, for the production of catalogs and magazines. Web offset
is the most productive variant of offset printing, here substrate webs can be
printed on both sides.
